You need to grow a brain and stop beileving in the fairy tales a bunch of people made up 2000-3000 years ago.
Evolution is a FACT, the Bible is not infailliable. The moral lessons are great but the science is a bit out of date. Tell your kids to live by the 10 Commandments but please grow up and get with the program, the modern world bypassed the book of fables a long time ago.
I still love the Bible… the Book of Ruth in particular, it teaches us not to discriminate against outsiders… but anyone who thinks the Earth is only 6,000 years old needs a new cerebellum, one that works. The sad thing is she has at least 4 kids…
I really didn’t think there were people that out of touch with reality. Too bad for the kid – Mom believes in fairy tales and thinks reality might be dangerous
I’m a Christian but I’m pretty sure dinosaurs are real. So many Christians are so ignorant and sheltered its insane and it frankly pisses me off. There afraid of literally everything. The bible tells us to go out into the world, not hide from it. Then they wonder why everyone in the modern world thinks were incredibly stupid. By the way I’m not looking to spark a debate but I just want to say that the bible does indeed contain Science and several places it mentions what were likely dinosaurs.
While I don’t believe the planet is only 6k years old I seriously doubt it’s billions of years old either. Evolution is not a FACT it is a theory, which has yet to be proved. I personally believe it is likely, but not a FACT, not yet. The fairy tale is that there is a growing number of people who actually believe that the entire universe is the result of some ball of whatever went “bang” and poof!!! universe. Seriously? What created the ball of whatever? Why did it finally decide to go “bang”? By the way, carbon dating is a theory, what proof do they have that what they dated as millions of years old is actually that old? Theory. that’s all.
I also am a Christian and know that dinosaurs are real. The word translated as “day” in the Genesis creation story can also refer to an age or an indefinite period of time. So many Christians understand how that the world could be over 4 billion years old and still be the product of a Creator.
Funny how the world demands that Christians do not judge them, yet are so quick to sterotype us all as ignorant rednecks. Don’t believe everything the media tells you…
That said, if you believe everything that Discovery Channel airs, well, lets just say that this week’s program on whether or not mermaids are real left me laughing.
Hey – it’s what she wants to believe and raise her children to believe. If she lives in America (and in this instance, I’m going to assume she is), she has the freedom to believe in whatever she wants and to raise her children however she sees fit as long as it doesn’t harm anyone.
Personally, I believe in the big bang theory, evolution, and all that, but I also believe in freedom of religion. BTW, Christians, where’s the “Judge not, lest ye be judged” thing you’re supposed to practice?
What about kangaroos? I don’t remember reading about those hopping spawns of satan in the bible. Its a good message, but the details written hundreds of years ago in an attempt to add some civility to the masses, doesn’t necessarily translate all that well given our advances in science and whatnot.
The most frightening thing is not that she is obviously brainwashed or brain dead, but that an adoption agency actually gave her some kids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if this mental midget is not a troll then she is one of the most brain washed stupid morons I have ever seen. Hey lady, I think your 4 year old is smarter than you.
I’m a “bible thumping” Christian. And I certainly don’t take my science from the Discovery Channel. (Bad idea!!!). But it does irritate me when people of like faith claim the earth is 6,000 years old. NO WHERE (and I do mean NO WHERE!) does the Bible even remotely say that. It simply isn’t there.
One of the mainstays of of people like me are that we believe what the Bible says. And I most assuredly do… But if we are going to say that we believe what the Bible says, then I humbly suggest that we not go around adding to it. And the Bible does not say that… It simply doesn’t.
And, no, Evolution is NOT a fact. Ask any sixth grade science student and they can explain to you why. By modern science’s own definition it’s not a fact; it’s a theory. If you don’t understand why, ask your a sixth grader. They can explain it better than I.
I take my science from Science News and Scientific American. Much more reliable than the Discovery Channel. [I do love watching MythBusters... those guys are cool. But TV, even channels like Discovery or Animal Planet, isn't always a reliable source.]
Technically speaking, evolution is a theory. So is the idea the Earth goes around the Sun [heliocentric THEORY of the solar system.] But any reputable scientist will tell you evolution and heliocentrism are established as rock-solid facts by a mountain of evidence.
For the record, I do like the Bible. If you draw the proper moral lessons from it it’s still just as useful a tool now as it was 2,000 years ago. But time does march on and a lot of the things in it [like the parts discussing slavery] have become outdated.
people who think like this make me embarrassed and uncomfortable…. it’s like they have no basis in reality. They can’t look at the Bible and think “oh, this is a book written by MEN that has a few good morals in it and some food for thought… no they have to go and get all extreme and irrational about it. They misinterpret the Bible to a point where it becomes ridiculous and take their beliefs to an extreme level that actually goes backwards from what the Bible actually is trying to teach them. Bunch a NUT CASES who are EASILY MANIPULATED by other people in their cult churches, and really don’t know the REAL God or how to be REAL good people. I re-iterate, you Christian Extremists are embarrassing to the rest of us normal people.
I don’t need to go to a church to speak to God. God is everywhere. A church is just a building built by men filled with a bunch of people. God’s house is everywhere. OH, and BTW, me and Satan are on speaking terms as well. Most people are both inherently good and deviant at the same time. Nobody is perfect, that is why Jesus Christ died on the cross for us and our sins, because he knew that humans are born imperfect. People who believe in garbage like this lunatic don’t really know God. they are clueless.
I’ve personally spoken to God, and he told me I am perfect just the way I am and that he loves me unconditionally, and that I am free to believe in what I choose to believe. It’s unfortunate that so many people think they know God, but actually don’t.
one more thing, I think if “God” forgives the priests who butt F* hundreds of innocent little boys, he wont have any problem forgiving me for shoplifting when I was 13 and having sex before marriage… Get a clue.
Not dumb enough to wade into the bible debate. I am a christian but i also believe in science too. but i do love this line from a post by Lemonjello Walker above:
“What about kangaroos? I don’t remember reading about those hopping spawns of satan in the bible.”
Seriously?!?!?!? LOL
I am a Christian. I go to church. I have faith in God. I also KNOW that this earth is wayyyyyyyyyyyyy more than 6,000 years old!!! I also know that God created the dinosaurs. Why? I have no idea. Nor is it important to me to know why. I also know that dinosaurs ARE mentioned in the bible. In Job to be exact. It talks about Behemoths and Leviathans. It also describes them.
Science and religion are not mutually exclusive.
Man it’s so great to see so many open minded individuals come together to let everyone know how much of an idiot this stupid christian with her different views. I really hope that she reads this and feels so small and stupid and silly that she changes the way she thinks, so that she can be an open minded individual too. One who thinks exactly like all of you!
Ben, being a member of the American Communist party is having a “different view”. What this woman is doing is akin to believing that the Earth is flat instead of ellipsoidal.
I have no problem with people who have “different views” on subjects where there’s no one right answer. If you want to write in Linda Lingle when you vote for President in November, knock yourself out. If you want to believe in some higher power, whether you call said entity “God” or “Yahweh” or “Allah” or “Zeus” or “Zoroaster”, it’s a free country. Pray to the Son or the Sun, whichever makes you happier.
But if you tell me that 2+2=5, or that the Earth is flat, or that dinosaurs never existed, you’re simply WRONG and a total IDIOT and I WILL call you on it. I have no problem with this woman believing in God, but I do have a problem with her being so ignorant as to deny basic facts. Especially because she’s trying to pass her ignorance down to her kids.
Jeez. I’m a christian, but I have a unicorn stuffed animal. Does that make me a beleiver of evolution?! (Eye roll). I beleive in God and that the Bible is true, but I know that there is some evolution going on. No monkeys turning into humans, but minor changes as creatures adapt to different circumstances. I’m only sixteen and have more common sense than this woman who’s atleast in her thirties. I mean, come on, have you ever taken a science class? These bones aren’t rocks- they’re fossils!!! First grade drop out, perhaps?
I do hope she’s just having a laugh because I can’t cope with Christians and their inabilty to distinguish between SCIENTIFIC theory and a pile of shit.
America must be a frustrating place to be an atheist.
mustangguy: Because on average, if you believe in one of the many space ghosts, you are an idiot. In the US, that often indicates you are a redneck. It might be harsh, but reality and truth often are.
The problem with people who say evolution is just a “theory” is that they are operating under the popular definition of theory, which is actually a hypothesis, or an educated guess.
Scientific theory is as close to a law as you can get. It has been demonstrated by many different scientists many different times to be factually correct. Therefore, it is a fact.
Guys like Kirk Cameron or Ray Comfort who claim it’s just a theory don’t understand that, in scientific terms, theory is fact.
@ Last Universalist – I love that we are constantly changing our knowledge of the Universe. When I was in school, poor Pluto was still a planet. Books 15 years old are obsolete, let alone 77 years old. Now how about a book roughly 1,900 years old that was not even written during Christ’s life and has been retranslated and reinterpreted thousands of times over the millennia? Let me get this straigh…talking snakes good, overwhelming empirical evidence of fossils bad??
RED… just so you know Evolution happening is a fact HOW it happens is the theory. we know animals evolve new traits over time to cope with new environments and threats. So NOPE you are very wrong here. i just think its important you actually read a little about it before you say anything else, understand what parts are fact and what exactly scientists mean when they say THEORY
Christian here … two points … scripture specifically states that to God, a day may be like a year and a year like a day (in other words – the time scale people interpret as existing in Biblical history is not 6,000 “modern human” years. Second point: Bible does reference dinosaurs, strangely enough – called Behemoth. Description sounds like nothing else BUT a dinosaur.
adlyia ,the Bible is NOT a fact,it contradicts itself internally. If you read the Bible end to end right through ,you would know this.Your preachers do not want to to study your Bible intelligently and analytically because they wish to keep you ignorant and in their power.Jesus specifically warns people about this kind of preacher. You can go on saying evolution is a theory all you like,it doesn’t make it wrong.Gravity is just a theory but it doesn’t mean you won’t fall down not up when you fall.Your ability to learn, reason, comprehend and make intelligent decisions is compromised by your foolish beliefs.I’m deeply sorry for you.God gave you a mind for a purpose.do not waste His love by denying that holy gift
For all of you that have never paid attention in Science or have any sort of actual scientific degree…
Hypothesis= A tentative explanation for an observation, phenomenon, or scientific problem that can be tested by further investigation.
Theory= A widely accepted hypothesis that has been tested and supported by facts to warrant it’s existence and authenticity.
Yes. He will believe in evolution and worse! He will listen to Katy Perry and be gay and an atheist and have wild sex parties and drink beer while snorting cocaine and voting for Obama. He will then murder you violently and post the video on that satanic internet. And he will many many abortions.
Yes. I am being facetious. Anyway, I’m sure this woman is a troll.

Heliocentric solar system

There were few animals written about in the bible.
Mark- I believe it was posted on Babycenter.com. There’s also some lively Internet chatter about whether she’s a troll or just nuts.
if this mental midget is not a troll then she is one of the most brain washed stupid morons I have ever seen. Hey lady, I think your 4 year old is smarter than you.

@adlyia is that because you are so stupid that you lack the frame of reference to properly articulate your thoughts into words?
@The Last Universalist Nobody gives two craps about what you believe. seriously, you just typed that to yourself. weirdo.
@adlyia seriously, nobody cares about you or what you think.
people who think like this make me embarrassed and uncomfortable…. it’s like they have no basis in reality. how about all of the “Christians” who are begging for forgiveness for Paterno and Sandusky? HMMHMM? F*in religious NUT CASES.
not to be a troll or “recruit” but this is why I’m a proud wican
and why most families shouldn’t even have kids

Sad and pathetic.

THIS is Darwinism at its finest.
Let he teach and raise her kids like that… The world will always need burger-flippers and garbage collectors.

Jeffm209, actually being a garbage person isn’t that bad a job. Sure it smells, but you get paid well and you don’t even have to touch the garbage.
@The Last Universalist
The Earth is not ellipsodial – it is an oblate spheroid…
I hate people… I really, really do. Everyday I hope more and more that the Mayans are right.
Good catch, Mash. That’s what I get for using a reference book published in 1935 that I inherited from my grandfather after he died.
I do hope she’s just having a laugh because I can’t cope with Christians and their inabilty to distinguish between SCIENTIFIC theory and a pile of shit.

@ Nichole – Read “Anthem” by Ayn Rand, and you’ll know why I mentioned garbage collectors (street sweepers)
