WOW!
No doubt comes from a goddamn fundamental Christian home. Because the bible talks of god creating the sun and stars separately.
Sad.
Or, the kid is just stupid… Either way… Sad.
“The sun is a mass of incandescent gas, a gigantic nuclear furnace. Where hydrogen is built into helium at a temperature of millions of degrees.”
I am a fundamental Christian father of three and a chemical engineer. I believe that the sun is a star and the stars are suns. I also believe that God created all of it and that he sent his Son to die for me. Just because this kid may be stupid does not mean that he is a fundamental Christian or that all Christians are stupid.
And, a tomato is a fruit along with every other fleshy part of the plant that contains the seed of the plant (including cotton).
Slothboy, god is an illusion. Created so people don’t have to take responsibility for their own actions. For instance, if something bad happens, it’s not your fault you didn’t see it coming or do anything to prevent it, it was gods will. Someone can’t get a job, god is ignoring them and won’t help them, no you’re not trying hard enough. If people would step up and realize they are in control of their own life and nobody else is controlling it or has influence over it, you’ll be a lot better off and won’t need some imaginary god.
Yes, not doubt this is kid ‘educated’ at home. It’s sad how many adults will believe in superstition, ‘old wives tales’ and other nonsense as opposed to understanding the importance of facts and the scientific method when determining what is reality.
My son is 8 and he knows the sun is a star. What is really scary. I used to work in an aquarium. One day I hear this woman talking to 5 children, she was showing them the male sea lion. This is truly what she said, “You see him children this is a walrus.” I managed to stop myself from walking over to her, and reprimanding her for giving these children the wrong information.
I know tomatoes are fruits but they are not sweet to me like most fruits are. However who cares if your Christian or not science has proven that the sun is in fact a star and why does it always come down to religion. Why can’t anyone see that this kid is ignorant and leave it at that.
im sure glad that people are more occupied with arguing and name calling than what the message was actually about. thanks to those that kept it under control. a sun is a star. a tomato is a fruit. period. what kind of star or fruit is minor detail comparatively to the fact that this kid is so bass ackwards that he is angry for no reason calling his teacher- the one who teaches facts and theories- stupid. if people just let go of their negative emotions and knee- jerk reactions, we could really be peaceful to eachother and get the facts straight or at least have intelligent debates over the theories.
Dont know why the first poster had to say something about Christianity. That was stupid on his part. The kid is dumb and lets just leave it at that. And whoever thought they were being double smart by saying Tomatoes are berries. Berries are fruit.
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled on May 10, 1893, that the tomato is a vegetable, based on the popular definition that classifies vegetables by use, that they are generally served with dinner and not dessert (Nix v. Hedden (149 U.S. 304))
Nix v. Hedden dealt with the definition for commercial purposes. (taxing, customs, etc) Doesn’t change the fact that a tomato is still technically (botanically) a fruit. It just gets taxed as a vegetable. Just as a been is technically a seed but it is commonly seen as a vegetable as well.

Sometimes i wish you could see the names of these people. I’d love to go on facebook and have a healthy debate with some of these morons.

@Slothboy. Do you also believe the heavens and the Earth were created in six days?
First Poster: You’re a douche bag, knee-jerk reactor.

Why would you claim this kid is ‘educated’ at home, when he is posting about what his teacher said?
Slothboy – And you probably could have been a famous engineer but for your superstition.
*Sigh* Yes we have quite a few more generations to go until superstition becomes significantly diluted.
The good news – It IS indeed being diluted !!!
